Bulgarian swimmer Petar Stoychev won the bronze medal in the 25-km race at the long-distance swimming World Championship in Canada.
Bulgaria's Stoychev swam the 25-km open-water stretch for 5:33.40 h, finishing third. The gold went to American Alexander Meyer (5:32.29 h), while Italian Valerio Cleri got the silver medal (5:32.40 h).
Stoychev has three prior World Championship bronze medals: in Barcelona 2003 (25 km) and Montreal 2005 (10 km and 25 km).
"It was a hard race, exhausting and tense. I am happy that I demonstrated a good shape and won a medal for our country," said Stoychev.
